Host a Free Cognitive Assessment Event in Your Community

Bring Early Detection to Your Community

Early detection of Alzheimer’s and related dementias starts locally. If you’re a senior center, nonprofit, housing site, healthcare organization serving older adults, public library, or a faith-based group in Hudson or Bergen County, you can host a free memory screening event through Act Now Foundation’s Alzheimer’s Early Detection Project.

Our cognitive assessments help identify early signs of Alzheimer’s and related dementias, giving individuals the opportunity to plan ahead and access care early.

How Our Screening Events Work

Act Now Foundation has screened over 4,200 older adults across Northern New Jersey. All memory screenings are:

  • Safe and private

  • Conducted by dementia-trained professionals

  • Approximately 4 hours long (1 person every 30 minutes)

  • Multiple events can be arranged if interest is high

What We Provide:

  • Trained Professionals On-Site: 1–2 Certified Dementia Practitioners with support staff conduct assessments, provide follow-up guidance, and respond to participant concerns with compassion.

  • Exit Packets for All Participants. Each attendee receives a take-home packet including:

    • Dementia education

    • Local resources

    • Information about Act Now Foundation programs and support services

  • Bilingual Support: All screenings are available in English and Spanish.

  • Event Promotion: We’ll list the event on our website calendar. You manage promotion among your clients.

Why Early Detection Matters

Early identification of Alzheimer’s and related dementias allows individuals and families to:

  • Access medical treatment that may slow progression

  • Make legal, financial, and care plans while cognitively able

  • Maintain connections with family and community

  • Reduce the risk of emergency situations or miscommunication

Medicare recommends memory screenings every year for adults 65+.
