Option 1: Short Story
-
Focus on your loved one living with dementia, your caregiving experience, or both.
-
No minimum or maximum length.
-
Include a photo if you wish.
Option 2: Photo Essay
-
Share 6–10 photos that illustrate daily life as a caregiver or the routine of your loved one.
-
You can add brief captions or submit the images without text.
-
We will design the final layout and get your approval before publishing.

Option 1: Short Story Example
After retiring, my mother Charlotte began showing signs of dementia, like putting her shirt on backwards or misplacing items. We learned about Act Now Foundation’s free memory screenings at Cliffside Park Senior Activity Center and made an appointment. After the assessment, Cary told us she likely had dementia, and a doctor later diagnosed her with Alzheimer's, which was eventually corrected to Lewy body dementia. It’s been a challenging journey, adjusting to her needs and seeing her forget special moments. Joining a support group has been crucial for my emotional well-being, and Act Now helped us find daily care support, allowing her to stay at home while we maintain our full-time jobs.
