  • What will I be doing during my internship?
As an intern, students in the field of social work will learn the policies of the organization and how they affect the client. We are looking for students interested in Community and Administrative Social Work. These students will participate in several different outreach events, grant reporting, program and client evaluation, and more in Community advocacy and Program Administration. Public health/health administration interns will assist in Health promotion, planning, and implementing programs that benefit the older adult community. They will gain experience in field and office work. Students will also participate and assist in the preparation of outreach, health administration, program development, and evaluation. Psychology students specifically in education, community, and social psychology will be involved in Caregiver Education programs, Support Groups, referrals from partnered agencies, and intakes of families to receive services and resources. The goal is to help educate families/caregivers on reducing stress to improve their mental health. If you are a marketing or communications major, you will be working primarily in the area of social media marketing and often use Canva for content creation. You might also work in the areas of email marketing (including our monthly newsletter) and online fundraising (particularly for our annual Giving Tuesday and Hudson Gives campaigns), and you might be introduced to Google Ads, Google Analytics, and more. You might also be asked to search and request auction items for our annual Music & Memories Gala, and to help us increase our educational seminars portfolio.
  • When can I start?
We offer internships in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • When is the deadline to apply?
Fall semester - August 1st Spring semester - December 1st Summer semester - June 1st
  • What is the application process?
Please download our application form, fill it out, and submit it along with your resumé through our website, here. After we receive it, we will review it and we will schedule a personal interview at a convenient time for both parties. You will receive a final answer 1-2 weeks after your interview.
  • Are there one-time volunteer opportunities?
Sometimes, we offer one-time volunteer opportunities during our annual Brain Health & Community Resource Fair in June and our Music & Memories Gala in December.
  • Can internships be remote?
We only offer remote positions for human resources interns.
  • Where is Act Now Foundation located?
Our office is located at 400 38th Street, STE 405, Union City, NJ 07087. All interns (except those majoring in human resources) must complete their hours in our office.
  • What is the minimum number of hours/days I need to work every week?
We require that interns work at least 10 hours in 2 days every week. We can accommodate your schedule to help you meet this requirement and we will be flexible when your exams approach.
  • Do interns get paid?
Unfortunately, as a non-profit, we have a limited budget and we cannot offer paid internships at the moment. Some universities have programs such as the Rutgers Summer Service Internship Initiative where students get paid through the university to take on unpaid internship roles. We suggest you reach out to your University to learn more.
  • Can I earn credits with this internship?
You may be able to earn college credit while you intern at Act Now Foundation. Reach out to your Department to learn more.
